Aniwaba Slams Acheampong Over Tribal Comments in NPP

The Assistant Northern Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Aniwaba K.B. In a statement, Mr. Aniwaba described the comments as “unguided and inappropriate,” arguing that they undermine the NPP’s core values of unity, tolerance, and maturity. He urged the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Council (NC) to call Dr. Acheampong to order and demanded an unqualified apology to both Ghanaians and the party’s grassroots. Speaking to party supporters on Sunday, August 24, the former Vice President warned that such tactics risk deepening divisions within the party while distracting delegates from the real issues behind the NPP’s 2024 electoral defeat. “As we go into the primaries, I am very concerned that some of our presidential aspirants have embarked on religious and tribal bigotry against me,” Dr. Bawumia said. He argued that rather than focusing on evidence-based strategies, certain aspirants are misleading delegates with identity-based propaganda. “In their desperate attempt to win votes, they ignore the data on why we lost the 2024 election and instead mislead delegates with propaganda,” he added.
