Police detain TikToker Peller over alleged suicide attempt, reckless driving
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest and detention of social media influencer Habeeb Hamzat, popularly called Peller, after a viral video showed him driving recklessly and crashing his car while live-streaming the incident. The crash, which occurred on Sunday 14 December 2025, sparked widespread outrage and raised fresh concerns about dangerous stunts carried out for online content. Police Public Relations Officer Abimbola Adebisi said Peller’s conduct is being investigated as a deliberate attempt to commit suicide and an act that put the lives of other road users at risk. She noted that the video captured him speeding and losing control before the serious road crash, all while broadcasting to his followers in real time.
