France Honours President Akufo-Addo with Prestigious Award.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has received France's highest national distinction, the Grand Officer of the Legion of Honour (Grand Officier de la Légion d’Honneur). The accolade was conferred by French President Emmanuel Macron during a ceremony at the Elysee Palace in Paris on Thursday.The award, established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802, recognizes individuals who have made exceptional contributions to France or supported causes such as democracy, human rights, and humanitarian services.President Macron praised Akufo-Addo for his dedication to democratic principles, human rights, and strengthening Ghana-France relations.During his state visit, Akufo-Addo also engaged in bilateral talks with Macron, addressed an event by France Volontaires, and participated in a UNESCO program honoring its first African Director-General, Amadou Mahtar-M’Bow.
