Ondo Lawyer Drags Colleague, Eight Others to Court Over Property Dispute

An Akure-based lawyer, Oyekanmi Isijola, has taken a fellow legal practitioner, Oluwanike Omotayo, and eight others before an Upper Area Court in Ilorin over allegations of criminal intimidation, forgery, defamation, cyberstalking, and attempts to illegally acquire his late father’s property. The case, which came up on Monday, was filed under the Penal Code Law and the Cybercrime Prohibition and Prevention Act. Omotayo, listed as the first defendant, was absent in court but was represented by her counsel, Okedayo Nicholas, who pleaded against the complainant’s request for a warrant of arrest. The judge ruled in her favor but issued warrants for the seventh and eighth defendants, who failed to appear despite being summoned. The matter was adjourned to September 30 for further hearing.
