Fire guts Computer Village building, destroys goods worth millions

A night time fire has destroyed a one storey commercial building on Somoye Street in Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos, burning property worth several millions of naira. The affected building housed shops used for the storage and sale of computers and accessories.​ Eyewitnesses said the fire started around midnight and spread quickly because of the volume of combustible materials inside. Emergency responders arrived after distress calls and battled the flames through the night.​ No life was lost, but an officer of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service sustained minor injuries during the operation. Tanker overturns on Liverpool Bridge as officials avert disaster

A major disaster was averted on Monday after a diesel laden tanker overturned on Liverpool Bridge, outward Apapa, in the Tin Can Island area of Lagos. Videos showed residents rushing to scoop the spilled diesel in jerrycans and other containers before authorities arrived.​ Emergency agencies, including the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority and the Police, moved in quickly after the videos went viral. LASEMA releases preliminary report on Qatar Air emergency landing

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has released its preliminary report on the Qatar Airways flight that made an emergency landing at Murtala Muhammed International Airport after developing a mid‑air technical fault. [UPDATE] NEMA Confirms One Dead in Lagos Building Collapse

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed the death of one person following the collapse of a three-storey building at Alagomeji, Yaba, Lagos State. In its Day 2 incident report released on Saturday, the agency said the body of a male victim was recovered from the rubble during ongoing search and rescue operations. Earlier reports indicated that at least four people had been rescued alive after the building caved in at about 7:46 p.m. on Friday.
