Ghana Water Ltd. Shuts Down Kpong Plant for Repairs
Ghana Water Ltd. (GWL) has announced the temporary shutdown of the Kpong Treatment Plant following damage to its raw water transmission pipeline on Thursday, August 28, 2025. The emergency repair works, expected to last three days, will disrupt water supply to the entire Tema Metropolis and parts of Accra, including Ashaiman, Gbetsele, Akatamanso, Klagon, Lashibi, Baatsonaa, Spintex, East Legon, and nearby communities. GWL management has urged customers in affected areas to store sufficient water while supply remains available. Essential service providers, such as schools and hospitals, are encouraged to seek support through the company’s toll-free line, WhatsApp, or official social media handles.
