US delivers critical military assets to battle terrorists, bandits

Nigeria’s fight against terrorists and bandits has received a major boost with the delivery of critical military assets from the United States. US Africa Command said the equipment was handed over in Abuja to support ongoing security operations against terrorists and other non state armed groups. AFRICOM described the shipment as “critical military supplies” but did not disclose the specific platforms or weapons involved. The command said the delivery underscores the strong security partnership between both countries and is aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s frontline capabilities. The new support follows US assisted “precision hits” on ISIS affiliated Islamic State West Africa Province targets in Jabo, Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State on December 24. Burkina Faso frees detained Nigerian aircraft and 11 troops

The Federal Government has confirmed the release of the Nigerian Air Force C-130 aircraft and 11 soldiers who were detained in Burkina Faso after a forced landing. The confirmation came on Wednesday night from the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, who said the aircraft and personnel had been released. Tuggar, who led a Nigerian delegation, explained that the visit was at the request of President Bola Tinubu to resolve the incident and strengthen relations between both countries. The incident occurred nearly two weeks earlier when a Nigerian Air Force C-130 transport aircraft, carrying 11 soldiers, made a forced or precautionary landing in Bobo […]

In line with international aviation procedures, the crew made a precautionary landing at Bobo Dioulasso airfield in Burkina Faso, identified as the nearest suitable airport. However, authorities under the Confederation of Sahel States, which includes Burkina Faso, treated the landing as an unauthorised entry into their airspace. The regional bloc subsequently placed its air and anti aircraft systems on high alert and ordered an investigation into the circumstances of […]
