Fire guts Kano essential commodities market
An early morning fire on Monday has gutted parts of the Kano essential commodities market, popularly known as Singa market, destroying yet to be quantified goods and property. The inferno was reported to have broken out in the early hours of the day, though details of how it started and the full extent of damage were still sketchy at the time of filing this report. Spokesperson for the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusif, said the agency received a distress call at about 3:16 a.m. and immediately deployed firefighters to the scene in a bid to contain the blaze.
