Kano Assembly Suspends Rano LG Chairman Over Alleged Misconduct, Fertiliser Price Hike
The Kano State House of Assembly has suspended Muhammad Nazir Yau, Chairman of Rano Local Government Area, for three months to enable a full investigation into allegations of misconduct, abuse of office, and misappropriation of funds brought against him by his councillors. The suspension was announced on Wednesday during plenary after the House Committee on Public Petition, chaired by Majority Leader Hussaini Lawan Cediyar Yangurasa, presented its interim report. The Assembly also directed the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to instruct the council’s vice chairman to serve as acting chairman until the probe is concluded.
