Idongesit Brothers Set For Junior Fencing World Cup In Uzbekistan
Nigeria’s rising fencing talents, Mahadi and Mahathir Idongesit, will be among 60 competitors at this weekend’s International Fencing Federation (FIE) Junior Epee World Cup in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The brothers will represent Nigeria in a strong international field as they continue their steady climb in the sport. The tournament was initially scheduled to hold in Lagos but was later moved to Uzbekistan. This followed a decision by the Nigeria Fencing Federation to channel its resources towards hosting a more suitable Commonwealth Championships in 2026. Mahadi and Mahathir made their international debut for Nigeria at the 2025 African Championships in Lagos. Mahadi is currently ranked 595 in the world, while Mahathir is placed 608, and both will be looking to improve those positions with a solid performance in Tashkent.
