Ekow Assafuah Slams OSP Bail Conditions: ‘Jesus Christ’ Required Next?
The Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, sharply criticized the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) during an appearance on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem program, describing the bail conditions imposed on former GACL board chair Paul Adom-Otchere as excessive and unreasonable. He mocked the requirement for two landed properties as sureties, warning that such standards could escalate absurdly: “If we’re not careful, very soon we’ll be asking for Jesus Christ, Noah’s Ark, or even the dove that returned after the Flood, as bail condition.” Assafuah stressed that Adom-Otchere poses no flight risk and questioned how a detainee could produce property documentation. He urged the OSP to exercise restraint and uphold fairness to preserve public trust in Ghana's justice system.
