Nigeria No Longer in ‘Jeopardy Zone’ on Security— Presidential Aide

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Communication, Sunday Dare, says Nigeria has made significant progress in tackling insecurity and can no longer be described as being in the “jeopardy zone.” Speaking on Sunrise Daily, a Channels Television programme, on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, Dare argued that while security challenges persist, the situation has improved compared to the height of the Boko Haram insurgency. “We have seen progress on security; I believe we have left the jeopardy zone,” he said, recalling that during the peak of insurgency in the Sambisa Forest years ago, the entire nation was under a cloud of fear. He urged Nigerians to view the issue in perspective:“If you look back five or six years—even to the Jonathan era—you’ll see the difference.
