Creatives Petition Mahama to Revoke Kafui Danku, James Gardiner’s NFA Appointments

A group of arts industry stakeholders, the Association of Ghanaian Creatives, has petitioned President John Dramani Mahama to reconsider the appointments of Kafui Danku and James Gardiner as Executive Secretary and Deputy of the National Film Authority (NFA), respectively. The group argues that the duo lacks the expertise to lead such a critical institution, stating that their experience is mainly in low-budget productions and social media branding. Instead, they are calling for the appointment of a seasoned technocrat with deep industry knowledge. The petition highlights the legacy of former NFA leader Juliet Yaa Asantewaa Asante, a Harvard-trained expert who facilitated key distribution deals. The group has proposed alternative candidates, including George Bosompin, Jim Awindor, Akofa Edjeani Asiedu, Professor Linus Abraham, Akosua Abdallah, and Nicole Amarteifio.
