Hamas Rejects Trump’s Proposal for US Control of Gaza

Hamas has strongly rejected a reported plan by US President Donald Trump for the United States to assume control of Gaza and relocate its population. The Washington Post revealed on Sunday that the White House was reviewing a 38-page proposal that would place Gaza under US trusteeship for at least 10 years. The plan envisions transforming the war-torn territory into a tourism hub and technology center, with new “AI-powered smart cities” built in place of destroyed neighborhoods. Trump previously suggested in February that Gaza could be turned into “the Riviera of the Middle East” once its Palestinian residents were moved out. The idea sparked swift outrage across the Arab world. Palestinians compared it to the Nakba of 1948, when hundreds of thousands were displaced during the creation of Israel. 280 Aid Trucks Enter Gaza, UN Warns Supply Insufficient

The Israeli military body Cogat, which coordinates aid entry into Gaza, has reported that 280 trucks carrying humanitarian supplies entered the Strip on Sunday through the Kerem Shalom and Zikim crossings. According to Cogat, 300 trucks were collected and distributed by the United Nations and other international organisations, while UN fuel tankers were delivered to support essential humanitarian systems. In addition, 131 pallets of aid were airdropped in a joint effort by the UAE, Jordan, Germany, Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, and France. The US- and Israel-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation is among the groups delivering supplies to civilians. Despite these figures, several international agencies argue that the current aid levels are far from sufficient. Critics also say that airdrops are costly and less effective than land deliveries. The UN’s Palestinian refugee agency (Unrwa), in a situation report dated 8 August, stated […]

Israeli Strike Kills Journalists in Gaza City

Seven people, including several journalists, were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza City, according to broadcaster reports. Among the victims was 28-year-old correspondent Anas al-Sharif, whom the Israeli military accused of leading a Hamas terrorist cell. The military has provided limited evidence to support the claim. Sharif had previously worked with a Hamas media team in Gaza before the current conflict. However, some of his earlier social media posts were critical of the group. The strike also claimed the lives of another Al Jazeera correspondent, three camera operators, and a freelance reporter, all of whom were on assignment at the time. Al Jazeera described the incident as a targeted assassination and accused Israel of carrying out a premeditated attack on press freedom. The United Nations condemned the killings, calling them a grave breach of international humanitarian law. The Committee […]
