Illegal Miners Seize $168m Gold Mine Concession in Adansi, Ashanti Region

he future of what could become the second-largest mine in the Adansi enclave of the Ashanti Region is now in jeopardy after illegal miners forcibly seized over 200 acres of concession land. The site, secured by Mining and Construction Services for underground mining, has been overrun by groups allegedly led by the NDC Vice Chairman for Obuasi West, Alhaji Zamba. The illegal operators, equipped with excavators, are conducting unsustainable mining and digging trenches, leaving staff of the legal operators threatened and driven away. Managing Director Andy Amoah recounted how his team was forced to stop operations despite holding valid documentation.
