Troops destroy terrorist camps, rescue kidnap victims in Kwara operations

Troops of 22 Armoured Brigade of the Nigerian Army have launched sustained offensive operations against terrorist and bandit groups in Kwara State, destroying multiple camps and rescuing kidnap victims. Army spokesperson Captain Maureen Ogbuka said the week long operations were carried out with support from the Office of the National Security Adviser under the leadership of Major General Chinedu Nnebife, GOC 2 Division and Commander Sector 3 Operation Fansan Yamma, and Brigadier General Nicholas Rume, Commander 22 Brigade. She said the operations reflect a high level of readiness and determination to dismantle terrorist networks in the Joint Operations Area. Kwara Monarch Escapes as Vigilantes Battle Bandits

The abducted monarch of Bayagan community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Alhaji Kamilu Salami, has escaped from armed bandits along with six other captives. Community sources said they fled on Sunday evening after local vigilantes launched a fierce offensive on the kidnappers’ camp deep inside the forest.​ The vigilante team reportedly tracked the gang to the Eku Idaji area, near Igbaja, and engaged them in heavy gunfire. Bandits Kill 10, Kidnap Several in Kwara Village Attack

At least 10 people, including a village head (Baale), were killed when bandits attacked Oke-Ode community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State on Sunday morning. Witnesses said the armed men stormed the village, firing sporadically, killing residents, and abducting several others whose number is yet to be confirmed. A member of the local vigilante group, identified as Ajetunmobi, told Sobi FM that security forces failed to act on warnings that the attackers had been sighted since Saturday night. “We alerted security operatives to be prepared, but by morning the bandits launched the attack, starting from the duty post and targeting vigilantes,” he said.
