Ghana Link Refutes Claims of Broken‑Down Scanners at KIA

On July 14, 2025, Ghana Link Network Services Ltd., which operates the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS) at Kotoka International Airport’s Cargo Village, publicly denied reports that its scanners had failed—reports which claimed that only sniffer dogs were being used to inspect goods. Core Clarification Ghana Link stated categorically that all five scanners are fully operational and maintained: four Smiths Heimann models for exports and one Rapiscan Eagle A25 for imports. The company emphasised that, however, sniffer dogs are used occasionally as supplemental screening, based on credible intelligence by the Narcotics Control Commission—not due to scanner breakdowns.
