Nigeria’s Mahmoud Ben-Tukur Re-Elected to ICAO Council
Nigeria has scored a major diplomatic win with the re-election of Engr. Mahmoud Ben-Tukur into Part II of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Council at the ongoing 42nd ICAO Assembly in Montreal, Canada. Ben-Tukur, Nigeria’s Representative to ICAO, secured 163 out of 185 votes, defeating 11 other African nations in a highly contested election. His victory cements Nigeria’s continued role in shaping global aviation governance. With this result, Nigeria joins 11 other countries re-elected into Part II of the ICAO Council, including Egypt and South Africa from the African bloc.
