Robber Who Attacked Pregnant Woman at Tsikpota Jailed for 19 Years

On May 21, 2025, around 4:00 a.m., armed robber Paul Avortide, alias “Tinted,” accosted Ogechi Chidiebere, a pregnant Nigerian woman, at Tsikpota near New Housing in Ho. Armed with a machete, Avortide forcibly stole her GHS 3,000 and her Tecno Spark 30c phone valued at GHS 2,500 as she walked to the Ho Municipal Hospital for antenatal care. Arrest, Accomplice & Conviction On June 19, 2025, police apprehended Harmony Nbonu (“Arab Money”) at the Ho Main Market, found with the stolen phone. He admitted buying it from Avortide for GHS 850. Armed with this intelligence, police tracked and arrested Avortide in Matse, a suburb of Ho. Both suspects were arraigned before the Ho Circuit Court on July 1, 2025.
