Free Dialysis Services to Launch in 40 Facilities Starting December 1.

From December 1, 2024, the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) will provide free dialysis services in 40 health facilities across Ghana. This move aims to relieve patients who struggle to afford the high cost of treatment, which ranges from GHC300 to GHC1,000 per session. NHIA CEO Dr. Dacosta Aboagye assured the public that the initiative is sustainable and will remain intact regardless of government changes.The NHIA plans to meet with facility heads on November 26 to finalize the rollout. Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emphasized that the programme is part of the government’s broader commitment to enhancing healthcare access. Telecel Ghana Foundation Offers Free Health Services to 500 in Teacher Mante.

About 500 residents of Teacher Mante, a community in the Ayensuano district of Ghana's Eastern Region, benefited from free health services provided through Telecel Ghana Foundation’s Healthfest and Rural Ultrasound initiatives. Healthfest, a program that offers comprehensive health screenings and education, was held at Teacher Mante D/A JHS. Residents received a wide array of health checks, including screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, malaria, hepatitis B, HIV, and typhoid. General health consultations and weight assessments were also available. Simultaneously, the Rural Ultrasound initiative took place at Teacher Mante Presby School, focusing on providing prenatal care to expectant mothers.
