G/A Minister leads cleanup exercise in Shai-Osudoku

 • Ms Ocloo (second from left) and others sweeping the area The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Ms Linda Akweley Ocloo, on Satur­day led a cleanup exercise in the Shai-Osudoku District as part of the second edition of the “Region­al Sanitation Day.” The exercise, which began at 6:00 am saw participants cleaning their surroundings and streets, de-silting choked gutters and clear­ing weeds. The exercise was in direct fulfilment of the Regional Coordi­nating Council to all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies within the Greater Accra Region to embark on a massive clean-up exercise as part of the Regional Sanitation Day. Addressing journalists after the exercise, Ms Ocloo who is also Member of Parliament (MP) for the area said the exercise was in line with the directive from the President to make Accra the clean­est city in Africa.

NIA Begins Free Ghana Card Issuance in Greater Accra, Warns Against Unauthorized Fees

The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced the commencement of the free issuance of Ghana Cards in the Greater Accra Region, starting April 7, 2025. This initiative includes the distribution of previously printed cards as well as new registrations at all NIA District Offices.Ghanaians who applied for card issuance, replacements, or updates since June 2023 but have not yet received their cards can now collect them. Additionally, individuals aged 15 and above who have not registered for the Ghana Card are encouraged to do so at any NIA District Office.The NIA emphasized that the issuance of both printed backlog cards and first-time registrations is entirely free of charge. 23 Women to Contest Parliamentary Seats in Greater Accra for 2024 Elections.

Rabies Cases Surge in Western and Greater Accra Regions: 793 Cases and 77 Deaths in Three Years.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), alongside Ghana's Accelerating Social and Behavior Change (ASBC) programme and other animal health stakeholders, has raised concerns about the rising cases of rabies in Ghana, particularly in the Western and Greater Accra regions.At a press event for World Rabies Day 2024, the ASBC noted that dog bites and rabies cases are on the rise, with dogs being the main carriers of the virus. In 2023 alone, 331 suspected cases of rabies were recorded, with Greater Accra leading at 112 cases, followed by the Western Region with 102 cases, accounting for 64.65% of the total.
