FRSC warns Gombe residents against underage driving

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Gombe State has warned residents to stop allowing underage children to drive, describing the practice as illegal and punishable under the law. State Sector Commander Samson Kaura told the News Agency of Nigeria that despite ongoing sensitisation, cases of minors driving cars, tricycles and motorcycles are still being recorded across the state. He said the command will intensify engagement with critical stakeholders and sustain joint patrols with other security agencies to curb the trend. Kaura stressed that “children have no business with driving” and urged parents not to hand over their vehicles to them under any circumstance. He also warned owners of tricycles and motorcycles against lending their machines to underage riders, saying no excuse would be accepted when they are caught. Gombe Governor Appoints New Health Ministry Permanent Secretary

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has approved the appointment of Dr. Lawan Bala as the new Permanent Secretary for the State Ministry of Health. Dr. Bala was elevated from his previous position as the Executive Secretary of the Gombe State Hospital Management Services Board. The Head of Civil Service stated that the appointment is part of the administration's effort to strengthen leadership in the health sector following recent reforms, including the implementation of new salary structures for health workers. In a related move, the Governor also appointed Dr. Mohammed Abdulkadir as the new Executive Secretary of the Hospital Management Services Board. Both appointments are effective immediately.
