Fire Service Saves Day as Fuel Tanker Catches Fire on Nsawam–Ofankor Road
On July 2, 2025, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) received an emergency call at 1:39 p.m., dispatching crews from the University of Ghana Fire Station to a fuel tanker fire along the busy Nsawam–Ofankor road. Responding within 30 minutes, firefighters discovered that intense friction had ignited the rear tyre of a Howo tanker—posing immediate risk of an explosion due to its full fuel load.
