10,000 National Service Personnel to Start Emergency Response Training
The National Service Authority (NSA) will commence the National Service Emergency Response Readiness Programme (NSERRP) on August 3, 2025, piloting the training with 10,000 voluntary National Service Personnel. The initiative aims to instill discipline, patriotism, and emergency readiness, alongside addressing challenges like environmental degradation, sanitation, public health crises, and illegal mining. Why This Matters Discipline & national readiness: The drills—lasting up to six weeks—are intended to equip young people for national emergencies and civic responsibilities beyond their service. Preparing for broader rollout: While participation in 2025 is optional, full enrolment for all National Service Personnel is expected to become mandatory from 2026.
