In an official statement, the Coalition described the assault — reportedly involving a sitting Member of Parliament accused of inciting residents to confront state officials — as a “grave affront to national security, democratic governance, and the rule of law.” The group warned that illegal mining (galamsey) continues to destroy rivers, forests, and farming lands, posing a direct threat to Ghana’s environment, economy, and public health.
