Health Minister Defends Farming Background

Ghana’s Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has strongly dismissed criticisms suggesting that his farming background makes him unqualified to lead the Ministry of Health. The comments originated from Dr. David Tenkorang, General Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), who argued that the Minister lacked a deep understanding of hospital operations because “he is a farmer.” Addressing the matter at a press conference on Thursday, Mr. Akandoh described the remarks as misplaced and a needless distraction.
