Ghana preparing to transition out of GAVI support and reduce vaccine imports by 2030
Ghana is making significant strides toward achieving vaccine self-sufficiency by 2030, with plans to establish a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical manufacturing hub in Accra. This initiative aims to reduce the country's dependence on imported vaccines and facilitate its transition from GAVI support, while also creating thousands of jobs and stimulating economic growth. Deputy Minister of Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, announced the government's commitment to strengthening Ghana's healthcare infrastructure during a meeting with Dr. Sania Nishtar, CEO of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (GAVI).
