DVLA clears 440,000 driver’s licence backlog

The Minister for Transport, Joseph Nikpe Bukari, has announced that the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has successfully cleared a backlog of more than 440,000 unprinted driver’s licence cards. According to the Minister, as of December 2024 the DVLA had accumulated 440,000 pending licences, but all have now been printed and dispatched to DVLA offices across the country for collection. “As at December 2024, the DVLA had a backlog of 440,000 unprinted driver licence cards. Currently, all those backlog cards have been printed and dispatched to the various DVLA offices for collection,” Mr. Bukari confirmed. He further revealed that an additional 26,045 licence cards are in the final stages of lamination and will soon be delivered. This development is expected to ease frustrations among applicants who have experienced lengthy delays in acquiring their licences.
