Mass Burial for 16 Church Youth After Juaso-Nkawkaw Crash
The Obogu community in the Asante‑Akim South Municipality held a solemn mass burial for 16 youths from the Saviour Church Youth Ministry, who tragically lost their lives in a head‑on collision with a fuel tanker on the Juaso–Nkawkaw stretch of the Accra–Kumasi highway. The victims were returning from a church congress in Koforidua when the tanker burst a tyre during overtaking, swerved into oncoming traffic, and crashed into their Ford Transit bus. Fifteen died instantly at the scene while one died later; four others were critically injured and rushed to Juaso Government Hospital. The community, including church members and traditional leaders, gathered in deep mourning as the burial ceremony took place. Leaders of the Saviour Church described the tragedy as one of the darkest moments in their history, calling for unity and spiritual strength in this time of grief.
