Government Owes Road Contractors GH₵40 Billion Roads Minister Kwame Agbodza

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has disclosed that the government currently owes road contractors arrears amounting to GH₵40 billion. Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Citi FM, Mr. Agbodza detailed the financial challenges the government faces in clearing debts accumulated under the previous Akufo-Addo administration. He commended President John Dramani Mahama and Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson for settling GH₵5 billion of the arrears within just a few months of assuming office, describing it as a major relief for contractors. “Without a doubt, we’re close to about GH₵40 billion, which represents work done but unpaid across the road sector.
