Greater Accra Minister on “Akwaaba” vs “Oobakɛ” Debate

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, has weighed in on the ongoing public debate regarding the proposed substitution of the Twi word “Akwaaba” with the Ga expression “Oobakɛ” at the Kotoka International Airport and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. In a press statement, the Minister acknowledged the concerns of the Ga people, describing them as legitimate since they are custodians of the land on which the capital city stands.
