Army denies troop deaths in Ebonyi boundary attack
The Nigerian Army has condemned the recent killings in Okporojo village, Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, and vowed to recover the severed heads of the victims. The attack was allegedly carried out by suspected warlords from Amasiri in Afikpo Local Government Area. Suspected attackers reportedly invaded Okporojo community in Oso Edda on January 29, 2026, killing four people and burning several houses. Addressing journalists in Abakaliki, the Cantonment Commander of the Nigerian Army in Nkwagu, Lt Col Emmanuel Chielo, said security agencies are working to restore peace in Okporojo and Amasiri.
