Lights, Camera, Security: Actors’ Welfare Scheme Launched in Ghana.
A new welfare scheme for Ghanaian actors, dubbed the Private Actors Welfare Scheme, was launched on January 4, 2025, at the Accra Marriott Hotel. Spearheaded by actor and creative entrepreneur Fiifi Coleman, in partnership with Hollard Insurance, the initiative aims to address the financial struggles actors face, particularly in retirement or during illness.Fiifi Coleman described the scheme as a step toward securing dignity, respect, and hope for actors, ensuring they no longer rely on charity in difficult times. "Together, we take control. When it comes to our future, we are the ones who will call, 'camera, lights, action!'" he said passionately.The launch, which doubled as a dinner for actors, saw notable names in attendance, including Fred Amugi, Pascaline Edwards, Akofa Edjeani, George Quaye, and Naa Ashorkor.
