Chimamanda Adichie to receive inaugural Felix Jud Prize in Germany

Globally acclaimed Nigerian novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has been named the first recipient of the Felix Jud Prize for Defiant Thinking, awarded in recognition of her literary excellence, advocacy for equality, and defence of human rights. The prize will be presented on September 20, 2025, during the 15th Harbourfront Literature Festival at the Elbphilharmonie, Hamburg, Germany. A distinguished jury — including Reinhold Beckmann, Robert Eberhardt, Jonathan Landgrebe, Jo Lendle, Joachim Lux, André Schmitz, Jette Steckel, and Nicola Verstl — selected Adichie as the inaugural laureate. The Felix Jud Prize celebrates individuals in literature, art, and culture who strengthen free thought, humanity, freedom, and debate through their work.
