GAF Denies Arrest of Brig. Gen. Michael Opoku
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has officially dismissed as false rumors spreading on social media claiming that Brigadier General Michael Opoku was arrested for ammunition possession. In a press statement issued on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, GAF reiterated that Brig. Gen. Opoku remains an active officer and is not under any arrest or criminal investigation. The statement emphasized that no security or investigative agency has verified the arrest claim. GAF further assured the public that, should any military officer be found culpable of wrongdoing, they would be subjected to the same legal proceedings as any other citizen. The Armed Forces urged the public not to spread misinformation and disinformation, reinforcing that the claim was entirely baseless. The statement was signed by Captain (GN) V.A.
