Nigeria’s Entertainment Sector Grows 11.2%, Leads Africa

A new report from PwC shows that Nigeria's entertainment and media sector is the fastest-growing in Africa, expanding by 11.2% in 2024. This growth outpaces other major African markets like Kenya (7.1%) and South Africa (6.2%). The rapid expansion is largely driven by digital transformation, including a boom in internet advertising and consumer demand for streaming services (OTT). The report projects that Nigeria's sector will continue to grow at 7.2% annually through 2029. Key factors include a young, tech-savvy population, increased smartphone use, and cheaper data plans. Beyond digital, live music and esports are also seeing a strong rebound across the continent, with Nigeria positioned as the region's most dynamic market due to its creativity and demographics.
