Egbe seeks emergency action on crumbling NPFL stadiums
Sports facilities expert Ebi Egbe has called for a state of emergency on infrastructure in the Nigeria Premier Football League after the league slumped to 91st in the world rankings. Egbe, CEO of Monimichelle Sports Facilities Construction Limited, said the sharp drop confirmed years of neglect of basic football infrastructure. He blamed substandard pitches as the biggest single obstacle to the growth of the Nigerian game. According to him, no league can compete with top nations while matches are played on poor, outdated surfaces. He argued that good pitches can deliver up to 70 percent success for technically sound teams by allowing them to express modern tactics and ball work.
