Trump tells Americans ‘the best is yet to come’ ahead of national address

President Donald Trump has told Americans that “the best is yet to come” as he prepares to deliver a nationally televised address from the White House, promising to outline what he sees as major achievements and future plans for the country. The primetime speech, scheduled for Wednesday at 9 p.m. Eastern Time, comes as recent polls show growing public dissatisfaction with his handling of the economy and cost of living. In a social media post announcing the address, Trump said it had been “a great year” for the United States and insisted that better days lie ahead. Inflation will soon hit single digit, Presidency assures Nigerians

The Presidency has assured Nigerians that inflation will fall to a single digit soon, a development it says will make life easier for citizens. Special Adviser to the President on Economic Matters, Tope Fasua, gave the assurance on Tuesday during an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief. Fasua said food prices are already beginning to stabilize as inflation eases, citing new figures from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). According to the NBS, headline inflation dropped to 20.12% in August 2025, down from 21.88% in July. On a monthly basis, headline inflation stood at 0.74%, while food inflation was 1.65%. Year-on-year, the figure was 12.03% lower than the 32.15% recorded in August 2024. “A 20.12 inflation is still large in many quarters because what it says is that prices are still increasing, but not as they used to be. Growth vs Tax and Gaza Control: Laffer, Wagner & Occupation Dynamics

Economists debate how tax levels influence economic growth. The Laffer Curve posits a balance: both very high and very low tax rates can reduce revenue, with an optimal rate maximising income while spurring activity. Some argue lowering taxes can boost investment, consumer spending, and growth—but only up to a point. In contrast, Wagner's Law highlights the tendency for public spending to rise as national income grows—meaning governments need growing revenue, often via taxes, to fund services and infrastructure. Together, these theories illustrate the tension: tax cuts may increase growth up to a point, but adequate tax revenue remains essential to fund development. Policymakers must therefore strike a balance: set fair tax rates to encourage economic activity, while ensuring sufficient funds for education, healthcare, and public investment. In practice, many countries fall short—either burdening citizens with high taxes or underfunding vital […]

Amaechi Backs Tinubu’s Policies But Slams Leaders: “Gains Go to Private Pockets, Not Nigerians!”

Former Minister Rotimi Amaechi delivered a sharp message at his 60th birthday in Abuja. He revealed he would have pursued similar policies to President Bola Tinubu if he led Nigeria. But he issued a major warning: ordinary Nigerians aren’t feeling the benefits. Amaechi’s Core Critique: Where’s the Public Good?Amaechi didn’t mince words: "The failure is that the gains of those policies are in their private pockets." He claims the intended results of reforms like subsidy removal enrich private individuals, not the masses. His question hit hard: *"We paid 4-5 trillion Naira in subsidies – where is that money now? If it went into the economy, people wouldn’t be complaining."* The Root Problem: Sharing vs. BuildingThe ex-Rivers Governor pinpointed a deeper issue in Nigerian politics. "Our politicians lack capitalist ideas," he stated. "Elites only fight about sharing resources, not creating them." He argued this "sharing mentality" blocks real progress that could help […]

Trump’s 100-Day Approval Rating Hits Historic Low, Below 40%

Donald Trump won back the Oval Office and took charge of the government amid the strongest poll numbers of his political career, but as the 100-day mark of his presidency approaches, Americans’ views of what he’s done so far have turned deeply negative, a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS finds. Trump’s 41% approval rating is the lowest for any newly elected president at 100 days dating back at least to Dwight Eisenhower – including Trump’s own first term. Approval of Trump’s handling of the presidency is down 4 points since March, and 7 points lower than it was in late February. Just 22% say they strongly approve of Trump’s handling of the job, a new low, and about twice as many say they strongly disapprove (45%). Since March, Trump has seen notable drops in approval from women and Hispanic Americans (down 7 […]
