10 injured as suspected political thugs attack Ebonyi villagers

At least 10 residents of Ndiche Umuomara village in Ndiagu Amagu, Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, have been injured in an attack by suspected political thugs. The victims are receiving treatment in different hospitals across the state.​ One of the victims, Nze Ukwa Nwankwo, who is being treated at Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital Abakaliki, said he was preparing to attend a meeting called by the traditional ruler when the violence broke out. Ebonyi Festival Turns Bloody as Youth Killed in Clash

A traditional festival in Amangbala, Ohaisu community in Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State turned violent in the early hours of Monday, leaving a young man dead. The victim, identified simply as Peter, was stabbed during a confrontation inside the Ogo Amaokwu Amangbala chamber, where youths were preparing costumes for the Iko Ohaisu festival.​ Community sources said trouble started around 1 a.m. when a youth named Daniel entered the chamber and demanded a ₦1,000 levy from those present, claiming he and his group had cleaned the place. Police Neutralise Wanted Notorious Criminal In Ebonyi

The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the death of Isaiah Okoronkwo, a notorious suspected criminal kingpin accused of terrorising the Iyonu community in Ishielu Local Government Area. In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Joshua Ukandu, the suspect had long been on the police wanted list due to his involvement in violent crimes and robberies in the area. Ukandu said the operation was carried out on 29th August 2025 by operatives of the Command’s Crack Squad, following credible intelligence on the criminals’ hideout in Iyonu Forest. “During the clearance operation, the hoodlums engaged operatives in a gun battle.
