Trump posts self as ‘acting president’ of Venezuela
US President Donald Trump has shared a doctored image on his Truth Social account describing himself as the “Acting President of Venezuela, incumbent January 2026.” The graphic, styled to look like a Wikipedia page, lists him as both the 45th and 47th US president and claims he now leads the South American country. The post comes days after a US military operation in Caracas that saw Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores captured and flown to New York to face drug and weapons related charges. Trump has said his administration will “run” Venezuela and oversee its oil assets during what he calls a transition period.
