Ghana Proposes Accra as World Bank Regional Hub to Boost West Africa Development
Ghana’s Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, on Friday, April 10, advocated for the establishment of a World Bank regional office in Accra. The proposal was made during a high-level meeting with Mr. Wencai Zhang, Managing Director and Chief Administrative Officer of the World Bank Group, held at the Ministry of Finance in Accra. The discussions centered on enhancing Ghana’s collaboration with the World Bank, particularly in critical sectors such as agriculture, transport, and energy. Dr. Adam emphasized the importance of these sectors for Ghana’s long-term economic transformation and urged for increased support to tackle sectoral challenges and drive impact.
