NAF denies espionage claims over C-130 landing in Burkina Faso

The Nigerian Air Force has rejected reports that its C-130 transport aircraft currently in Burkina Faso was engaged in espionage or was forced to land by Burkinabe authorities. In a detailed clarification, NAF described the claims circulating online as false, misleading and capable of inflaming public sentiment and straining regional relations.​ According to the statement, the C-130 was on a duly approved ferry flight from Lagos to Portugal for scheduled depot maintenance when the crew observed a technical issue on 8 December 2025. GAF Denies Arrest of Brig. Gen. Michael Opoku

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has officially dismissed as false rumors spreading on social media claiming that Brigadier General Michael Opoku was arrested for ammunition possession. In a press statement issued on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, GAF reiterated that Brig. Gen. Opoku remains an active officer and is not under any arrest or criminal investigation. The statement emphasized that no security or investigative agency has verified the arrest claim. GAF further assured the public that, should any military officer be found culpable of wrongdoing, they would be subjected to the same legal proceedings as any other citizen.
