Troops Arrest 86 Terrorists, Rescue 26 Hostages Nationwide

The Defence Headquarters has announced significant gains from military operations across Nigeria over the past week, resulting in the arrest of 86 terrorists, collaborators, and oil thieves. During these operations, troops also rescued 26 kidnapped victims and foiled oil theft worth over N13.4 million. The military dismantled illegal refinery sites and seized large quantities of stolen crude oil and other petroleum products. The successes were recorded across various regions: In the North East, troops killed scores of terrorists, arrested 13 suspects, and rescued three hostages. In the North West, several terrorists were killed, 11 suspects were arrested, and 14 hostages were freed. In the South East, 12 IPOB/ESN terrorists were arrested and three kidnap victims were rescued. The military high command commended the troops for their professionalism and reiterated its commitment to securing the nation.

The Defence Headquarters has announced that Nigerian troops rescued 180 kidnapped victims and arrested 450 suspects during nationwide security operations in September. According to a statement from Major-General Markus Kangye, the Director of Defence Media Operations, several terrorists were also neutralized. The military's efforts led to 39 terrorists surrendering voluntarily across various regions. A significant cache of weapons was recovered, including 63 assorted arms and over 4,475 rounds of ammunition. Other items seized were grenades, vehicles, motorcycles, and materials for making explosives.
