Military launches Operation Savannah Shield in Kwara

The Defence Headquarters has launched Operation Savannah Shield in Kwara and parts of Niger State following last week’s deadly terrorist attack on Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ordered the deployment of a battalion of troops to the area after more than 100 people were killed in the raid.​ Defence spokesman Major General Michael Onoja said the new operation will track down and bring to justice the terrorists behind the Woro and Nuku killings. Gen Musa: How coup attempt was foiled at planning stage

Defence Minister General Christopher Musa has revealed how Nigerian security agencies foiled a planned coup at the “planning stage”, describing the plotters as a disgruntled group led by a colonel who failed promotion to brigadier general.​ Speaking on Channels Television, Musa said the officer, angered by his failure to meet promotion requirements, began mobilising other aggrieved elements within the Armed Forces, but joint monitoring by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Department of State Services (DSS) and other security outfits exposed the plot early. Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd), says the military officers detained over the recent alleged coup plot were fully aware of the gravity of their actions before moving against the government.​ Speaking in an interview with Turkish public broadcaster TRT, Musa said the suspects “must have made up their minds when they decided to do this and must have considered their families,” insisting they are prepared to “face the wrath” if found guilty. Nollywood actor Stanley Amandi held over alleged coup plot

Nollywood actor and director Stanley Amandi has been arrested alongside several military officers over an alleged plot to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s government. A source in the Actors Guild of Nigeria said Amandi, a former chairman of the guild’s Enugu State chapter, was picked up in September 2025. Defence HQ says US strike in North West had federal approval

Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters has confirmed that the recent United States airstrike on terrorist targets in North West Nigeria was carried out with the approval of the Federal Government. Details emerge on 16 detained officers over alleged coup

Fresh details have emerged about the identities of 16 Nigerian military officers reportedly detained over the alleged foiled coup of October 1. According to reliable sources, 14 of the detainees are from the Nigerian Army, including one brigadier general, one colonel, four lieutenant colonels, five majors, two captains, and one lieutenant. The remaining two officers include a Lieutenant Commander from the Navy and a Squadron Leader from the Air Force, both equivalent in rank to a major. DHQ Warns Ex-Soldiers to Stop Illegal SDA Protests

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has cautioned discharged soldiers protesting at the Federal Ministry of Finance over the Security Debarment Allowance (SDA), describing the demonstrations as illegal.
