ICPC raids El Rufai’s Abuja home amid corruption probe

Operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission have searched the Abuja residence of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El Rufai. The raid took place on Thursday while the former governor remained in the custody of the anti graft agency over an ongoing investigation. El Rufai’s media aide, Muyiwa Adekeye, confirmed the operation in a brief statement, saying ICPC officials searched the entire property. His lawyer, Ubong Akpan, condemned the search, describing it as unlawful and a violation of his client’s fundamental rights and due process. El Rufai risks two year jail term on new cybercrime charges

Former Kaduna State governor Nasir El Rufai faces up to two years in prison if convicted on fresh cybercrime charges filed against him over the alleged interception of National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu’s phone calls. The Department of State Services accuses him of admitting on live television that he listened to recordings of Ribadu’s private conversations obtained through illegal phone tapping. The three count charge, filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja, is based on provisions of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) (Amendment) Act 2024 and the Nigerian Communications Act 2003. DSS files cybercrime charges against El Rufai over alleged bugging of NSA Ribadu’s phone

The Department of State Services has filed cybercrime charges against former Kaduna State governor Nasir El Rufai over the alleged unlawful interception of National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu’s phone communications. The case was filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja, days after El Rufai claimed in a live TV interview that he listened to a tapped phone call in which Ribadu allegedly ordered security agents to detain him. According to court documents, prosecutors allege that El Rufai, 65, admitted during an appearance on Arise TV’s Prime Time programme on 13 February that he and unnamed associates had access to Ribadu’s private phone conversations.
