Togo Launches Online Platform for Tax Exemptions and Waivers

Lomé, September 30, 2025 – The Togolese Revenue Office (OTR) has officially launched Gest-exo, a new digital platform designed to manage applications for tax exemptions and waivers. A tool for efficiency and transparency Gest-exo allows businesses and economic operators to submit requests online, track them in real time, and benefit from full traceability of the process. The platform is directly integrated with the SYDONIA customs software, ensuring automatic data transmission and smoother processing. “This platform responds to an imperative of efficiency. It ensures smooth management of requests, from submission to automatic transmission to the customs system,” said Atta-Kakra Essien, OTR’s Commissioner for Customs and Indirect Taxes. Customs Generates N16.4bn in Single Day at Tin Can Port

The Tin Can Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has set a new revenue record, collecting N16.4 billion in a single day through its newly deployed digital platform, B’Odogwu. The landmark feat, achieved on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, represents the highest daily revenue collection in the command’s history. Confirming the development, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, Customs Area Controller of Tin Can Island Port, praised the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), popularly known as B’Odogwu, for streamlining port operations and eliminating long-standing inefficiencies. “Beyond the numbers, this achievement underscores how technology can deliver transparency, speed, and accountability at the ports.The B’Odogwu platform has enabled licensed Customs agents and stakeholders to process payments and clear cargoes in real time, without delays or bottlenecks,” Onyeka said. Security Forces Clash in Bawku Over Truck of Smuggled Cocoa Bean.

A clash erupted between Ghana Police, Customs officers, and military personnel in Bawku on Wednesday, October 10, 2024, at the Missiga checkpoint over a truck suspected of smuggling cocoa beans to Togo. The truck, registered AS 5551-21, had traveled from Kumasi and was intercepted at the Mandago police checkpoint in the Pusiga District based on intelligence.The conflict escalated when police tried to take the truck to the Bawku Municipality, but were opposed by Customs and military officials stationed at the Pulmakom border, who argued the truck should be inspected at their post. This disagreement led to a 30-minute gun battle between the forces.
