Ashanti Regional Branch of ECG Exploiting Customers?
here are growing concerns that the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in the Ashanti Region may be taking advantage of its customers. Last month, in August, the company issued a warning to the public regarding the illegal sale and use of counterfeit electricity meters in the region.ECG raised alarms about the increasing presence of fake meters and vowed to take action to address the issue. According to Mr. Maxwell Dapaah, General Manager of ECG Ashanti-West, these counterfeit meters pose serious risks as they are not integrated into ECG’s system for proper billing and other essential functions.However, ECG also revealed that some of the counterfeit meters had been stolen by its own employees and illegally sold to customers.
