Police nab 10 suspects for kidnapping, robbery in Imo

The Imo State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects for alleged involvement in kidnapping, armed robbery and cult-related activities in different parts of the state. The suspects were paraded at the command headquarters in Owerri, where police also displayed recovered weapons and stolen items linked to their operations.​ Police Commissioner Danjuma Aboki said the arrests followed sustained intelligence-led raids and patrols targeting criminal hideouts. He explained that the operations were part of efforts to clamp down on gangs terrorising residents and motorists in the state.​ Among the exhibits recovered were locally made guns, live ammunition, a pump-action rifle and several vehicles suspected to have been snatched from their owners at gunpoint. Police Arrest Suspected Cultist for Rape Attempt in Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a notorious cultist and armed robbery suspect, Happiness Alphonsus Iseyen, for allegedly attempting to defile a teenager. The 26-year-old suspect, a resident of Ini Local Government Area, was apprehended on August 28, 2025, following a tip-off from a concerned citizen. According to the police spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, detectives acted swiftly after receiving information on August 27, 2025. The suspect was tracked down and arrested around 1:40 PM. During a search, a locally-fabricated gun with one live cartridge was recovered from Iseyen's possession. Police Urge NANS to Partner in Fight Against Cultism, Drug Abuse on Campuses

The Nigeria Police Force has urged the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to deepen collaboration in tackling cultism, substance abuse, and other vices among students and youths.
