Johnny Drille: My Music Never Truly Belonged in Church

Nigerian singer and songwriter Johnny Drille has opened up about his relationship with the church and how his musical path evolved beyond traditional gospel music. Speaking on the CreativiTEA podcast, the “How Are You (My Friend)” hitmaker explained that while his faith in God remains strong, he never felt his music fit into the church setting. “For me, I love God. I’m very involved in church, but I never really felt my music belonged there. Every now and then, I get invited to sing in churches, which is kind of interesting,” he said.
