Cecilia Dapaah Testifies in Court Over $53,000 Stolen Jewelry

Former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah has testified in an Accra High Court regarding the theft of her jewelry worth $53,000, allegedly stolen by her domestic workers.Speaking in court on Tuesday, March 11, Mrs. Dapaah revealed that aside from cash, the accused individuals took valuable personal items she had collected over the years. The theft, which reportedly occurred between July and October 2022, also included expensive clothing, kente fabric, and men’s suits belonging to her husband.The two accused housekeepers, 18-year-old Patience Botwe and 30-year-old Sarah Agyei, have been charged with conspiracy and multiple counts of stealing. Investigations revealed that the stolen money was used to acquire properties and luxury items.The case has drawn public scrutiny, especially after the Special Prosecutor launched investigations into Mrs. Dapaah’s wealth, leading to her resignation. Despite this, legal battles continue over the stolen funds and assets.

A tragic incident has unfolded following a Ghana Premier League match, where a devoted Asante Kotoko fan, Francis Frimpong, was fatally stabbed. Three Armed Robbers Jailed 125 Years for Attacking Lotto Company Boss.

Three individuals have been handed a total of 125 years in prison for their roles in an armed robbery attack on Mr. Makafui Atsu Kumordzi, the Director of Makafui and Son’s Limited, a lotto business in Ayitikope, Akatsi South Municipality, Volta Region.The convicted men, Nzete Chukunhru Best, 28, Mark Billy Agbozo (aka Teacher), 31, and Ernest Sokpi Amevor (aka Peace Maker), 32, faced charges of robbery, conspiracy, and abetment. Agbozo and Sokpi Amevor each received 50 years of hard labor, while Chukunhru was sentenced to 25 years.The court, presided over by Judge Felix Datsomor, delivered the verdict on December 23, 2024, after a full trial.
